Family of the late Sergeant Kipyegon Kenei received his body at Umash Funeral Home in Nakuru on March 6.
Emotions ran high as his kin received a casket bearing his remains ready for the burial which is scheduled for Saturday, March 7 at his Chemasisi home in Lower Solai.
The body will be laid to rest even as the government continues to unravel the mystery surrounding his death after it emerged that his killers made every effort to cover their tracks.
Photos seen on Facebook on March 6 at the Umash Funeral home shows a family that is in pain and is seeking justice. Administration police officers were seen loading the casket of the late sergent with a host of family members mourning in grief at the funeral home.
The police officer who is stationed at the Deputy President William Ruto’s Harambee House Annex office was found dead on February 21, 2020, in his Nairobi house in unclear circumstances.
This comes a day after DCI boss George Kinoti who had invited journalists on Thursday, March 5, to the DCI headquarters along Kiambu Road, unearthed how Kenei was murdered.
The policeman was one of the six officers who were being sought by the team of detectives investigating the fake Sh39 billion arms tender involving former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa.
Police suspect foul play in the death something that has led them to numerous revelations in the case.
The post-mortem results had revealed that the officer had died from a single gun bullet that went straight up the head something that was argued against by DCI forensic detectives.
This had initially hindered his burial arrangements as the law does not entitle an officer who commits suicide to a gun salute and other honours.
Kenei's father urged the government to recover the content of data from his phone made public so that the truth can be known.
"The content of data recovered from his phone should be made public so that we can know what happened," he added.
The body is expected to be laid to rest on Saturday, March 7, 2020.
