Jubilee Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju continues to recover at his home in Karen, Nairobi after a grisly road accident on February 12, 2020, that left him hospitalized.

Tuju on Monday, March 16 received several leaders at his home including Soy MP Caleb Kositany, who doubles up as the Jubilee Party's deputy secretary general, and Kikuyu Town MP Kimani Ichungwah.

He was also visited by leaders from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), among them Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo, Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga, Rangwe MP Lilian Gogo and Alego Usonga lawmaker Samuel Atandi.

Tuju appeared strong and impressively walked without assistance as he welcomed and saw off the leaders (see video at end of story). An individual in one of the teams that visited him spoke to Kenyans.co.ke on Tuju's condition after he returned to Kenya on Sunday, March 8 after spending two weeks in the United Kingdom where he received specialised treatment.

"He is recuperating very well at his Karen home and has been welcoming leaders including Atandi, Wanga and Gogo.

"Tuju is in high spirits, he's doing well and interacting. You can see in the video he's walking without any help which is great," he stated.

Tuju was involved in an accident along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway as he headed to Kabarak, Nakuru County for the burial of former President Daniel Arap Moi.

Speaking on March 12 after returning to Kenya, Tuju thanked the team at Karen Hospital for the care they gave him before he was flown to England.

He revealed that it was doctors at the hospital who made the decision to take him off life support after determining he was stable enough to make the trip to the UK.

"My lungs collapsed because I had 13 broken ribs and doctors had to make the life and death decision by removing the life support system so that I would go for specialised treatment in London," he narrated.

In particular, he thanked Dr Dan Gikonyo and Dr Betty Gikonyo who dedicated their time to ensure his swift recovery.

"I want to thank you for the great work you did to save my life.

"Dr Dan Gikonyo left his family for two weeks to join the team in London which was beyond the call of duty. He has only done that once before, when President Mwai Kibaki had an accident, so that was a great privilege and I thank my brother

"At one time, I thought they were going to throw him out but he was there to ensure that I got the best so I thank him most sincerely," he revealed.
