Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe on March 17, 2020, announced that Kenyans who fail to quarantine after landing in the country will be charged.

Kagwe stated that the Public Health Act invoked should be treated seriously as he explained that travellers arriving in the country would be compelled to swear a legal document.

"When the Public Health Act has been invoked, quarantine is not a voluntary measure, it is a mandated measure that can lead to a fine and a jail sentence,

"This measure at the airport is going to be instituted by making those entering the country swear a legal document that they will comply with what they are supposed to do," Kagwe warned.

Seven other people have been quarantined in Narok after they came into contact with a man whose father tested positive for Coronavirus.

They have been placed under isolation and close monitoring in Trans Mara West hospital. The Narok Coronavirus response team also identified other people who interacted with the seven people since Saturday, March 21, 2020, and put them under quarantine in their homes.

The man whose father was confirmed positive was taken to Mbagathi hospital for close observation. His father travelled from oversees recently only to develop the symptoms later on.
