The investigation launched after the death of Ruth Matete's husband Beloved John Apewajoye has taken a twist after Bellevue South Hospital in Nairobi vehemently denied claims by Matete that it was responsible.

In a statement released by the hospital on Friday, April 17, it denied allegations that Matete's husband died as a result of negligence from the facility where he was admitted after suffering serious burn injuries.

Matete reportedly told the DCI, that Apewajoye, who suffered serious injuries after an alleged gas explosion was rushed to Bellevue Shalom Hospital where he was admitted in the High Dependency Unit.

She told the detectives that it was after this that he developed complications and was rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) on Sunday, April 5.

At KNH, she was reportedly told that Bellevue Hospital had made a mistake by admitting a burn patient while well aware that they had no capacity to treat such injuries.

Bellevue in a rejoinder stated that it was open to sharing details with the authorities concerning the treatment that they had given Apewajoye, and further insisted that it had treated many burn cases before.

“Our emergency response unit has had the best outcomes in managing a good number of burn cases that have recovered tremendously and discharged from our hospital,” the hospital stated.

Ever since Matete's husband's death, rumours have been rife that there was more than meets the eyes in the reports she issued to the police.

On Tuesday, April 14, a man named Jesse McJessy who claims to be a friend and manager to the deceased alleged that Matete had a hand in her husband's death.

Jesse narrated that the couple had a troubled marriage, adding that the musician was violent towards her husband.

According to him, Ruth neither informed Beloved John’s family in Nigeria about the explosion, nor did she give accurate information about her status in the hospital.

Jesse's 17 minutes and 41 seconds video has left many confused with Matete being among the top trends on Wednesday morning.
