Kirinyaga Deputy Governor Peter Ndambiri has escalated internal wrangles dogging Governor Anne Waiguru's administration.

According to a report by K24 TV on Thursday, April 23, Ndambiri accused Waiguru of being misled by people who were giving her unsavory advice on the running of the county.

While insisting that there was no rift between him and the Governor, Ndambiri warned that Waiguru would regret trusting those people who were only out to taint his reputation.

“What is saddening is that the governor has agreed to be misled to believe that I am fighting her. Why should I fight my governor? I have forgiven them all.

"I pity our governor, now that she has decided to believe the lies instead of trying to find out the truth,” the deputy governor was quoted.

Ndambiri reportedly made the comments as he addressed residents mourning the death of Kirinyaga’s KANU treasurer, James Waweru Gachibiri, at Kimandi village in Kirinyaga Central Constituency.

Ndambiri further went on a tangent and insisted that despite the perceived fallout between him and Waiguru, he would continue discharging his mandate as required until 2022.

This, he stated, was because his loyalty did not lie with the governor but with the people of Kirinyaga who ensured that he occupied the deputy governor's seat.

“I want to inform our governor that she is surrounded by witches, conmen and backstabbers whose main objective is creating a wedge between us,” Ndambiri sensationally stated.

Ndambiri further took a swipe at the county’s leadership and told mourners that many promises made to the residents during elections had not been fulfilled because of poor leadership.

He vowed to ensure that no county resources were misused by those entrusted with overseeing the running of Kirinyaga County.

Ndambiri and Waiguru have been at loggerheads ever since MCAs declared their intention to impeach Waiguru.
