In a statement on his social media platforms on Friday, May 1, Matiang'i, who was accompanied by IG Hillary Mutyambai and other senior officers praised the women for their acts of kindness towards the officers enforcing the Covid-19 directives.

"I had the pleasure to meet the gracious ladies who are voluntarily supporting our officers at the Tala checkpoint. On behalf of President Uhuru Kenyatta and the government, I thank them.

"They exemplify Kenya's spirit and the much-needed synergy between citizens and security organs," Matiang'i wrote in praise of the three.

Matiang'i's visit was further confirmed by the National Police Service through its social media platforms where it too lavished the women with praise.

"The Interior CS  Fred Matiang'i and the Inspector General Police Hilary Mutyambai today visited Koma and Athi river multi-agency roadblocks in Machakos County and others in Isinya, Kiserian and Kibiko in Kajiado County.

"During the visit at Koma Roadblock, the CS met and thanked Priscilla Kioko, a lawyer and a hotel operator in Tala Town who had shown appreciation by providing food to the officers manning Koma roadblock for the last three weeks.

"The IG said this is a good gesture and sign of community policing where members of the public work closely with the police in the fight against crime in the society," NPS announced.

At all the roadblocks visited, the CS thanked all government agencies deployed to control movement as in effort to help in the fight against the spread of Covid-19.

He urged them to remain firm in enforcing the government's directives of implementing curfew from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. and not to allow unauthorized movement in and out of Nairobi Metropolitan Area.

The three ladies feeding the police officers were first featured on Citizen TV, where they explained that they had been volunteering to feed the officers at the roadblock, much to Kenyans' praise and adoration.

"We passed by this place on Saturday and noted that these officers were very thirsty and didn't have any water. We gave them sodas.

"When we passed by the area in the evening, they told us to bring them food and that is when we made the decision to be feeding them," Faith Mailu, a resident in Tala stated.
