Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi on Friday, May 8, 2020, delivered on a promise he made to the family of Kombe Charo Kazungu and his wife Mishi Kitsao after the couple were blessed with quadruplets on March 17, 2020.
The couple had been living in deplorable conditions after their house was destroyed by heavy rains in December 2019.
Kingi on April 19, 2020, promised to build a new house for the couple and to fulfil his promise handed over keys to a new house to the couple on May 8.
"I have officially handed Kombe Charo Kazungu and his wife Mishi Kitsao the keys to their new house as I had promised.
"The lovely parents, of now 7 children, were blessed with quadruplets about a month ago and I committed to building a new, better house for them in order to ensure the family has a better roof to live in with regards to the current weather condition and the Covid-19 pandemic," Governor Kingi wrote on his Facebook page.
The baby girls were born weighing 1.29kg, 1.01kg, 0.93kg and 0.97kg, after which they were admitted to the high dependency unit ward at the Kilifi Sub-county Hospital, prior to being discharged.
Nurses at the facility had also raised concerns that the lives of the quadruplets would be at risk if they had gone back to a ruined house.
"We have also provided Kombe’s family with essential products and we will continue to closely monitor the quadruplets as we engage the parents in a sustainable income-generating activity.
"We wish the family, especially the newborn babies, good health and that the family resumes normalcy in the shortest time possible," Kingi stated.
The governor expressed gratitude to well-wishers who supported the family by making contributions.
"We count on the support of well-wishers and persons of goodwill in times like this especially during this difficult time of the pandemic. May God bless you for your generosity," he remarked.
