After news broke that Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen had on Monday, May 11, been ejected from the Senate majority seat, the embattled politician moved to give his remarks on the development.

Speaking outside the Senate alongside Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika, Murkomen dismissed the reports that he had been removed from the position terming it 'a big joke' that a Senator of KANU was elected majority leader.

During the presser, however, one feature appeared to have escaped the eyes of many due to it being flawlessly blended with the background.

A journalist who was assigned to cover the presser spoke to Kenyans.co.ke explaining that reporters helped set up the podium for the senator.

The cameraperson attached to Weru TV, explained that it wasn't practical to have the table in its normal position.

"We put it up that way so that we could fit the microphones to hear the senator and also being at the stairs, it was impractical for him to be seated while giving the address," the scribe told this writer on the phone.

The presser proceeded, with the senator giving his remarks to the media using the overturned table. A photo of the presser posted by Makodingo had elicited 53 retweets and 111 likes on Twitter, with many expressing their thoughts on the table.

"But the table is looking nice. I didn't know it works this way," one Wagereka Irari noted.

While another, Evans Kip simply put it as "Tables turn, literally."

Other users online argued that it was the content of the presser that mattered while others were of the opinion that the optics held sway as well.

"The message was important not the desk," one Kamau stated.

At the presser, Murkomen maintained that he would not stand by and watch as the rules of the house were disregarded, adding that the meeting of senators at State House was illegitimate.

He further stated that he didn't have a grudge against President Uhuru Kenyatta, calling for an amicable partnership with his deputy, William Ruto.

The Elgeyo Marakwet Senator further stated that the Jubilee Party did not have a valid coalition agreement with Kenya African National Union (KANU).
