Amani National Congress Chairman, Kelvin Lunani was reported at Nyali Police Station by a tenant who accused him of flaunting his gun and intimidating him in a row regarding Ksh 70,000 house deposit.
In a report by The Standard, one Kevin Kitonga argued that Lunani, a member of Musalia Mudavadi's ANC party, carried uncharacteristic routine inspections, wearing shorts and a vest, with his gun protruding from the side and would smoke in tenants' faces.
The row between the two was sparked by the tenant's decision to move out of his three-bedroom house, six months after moving in, and demanded his Ksh 70,000 deposit to only be refunded Ksh 9,950.
"I have lived in hell. His dog also gives us sleepless nights, as it excretes at the door," the tenant stated.
"Each time he walked into our house, I would dash straight to the bedroom with my baby and lock myself leaving him with my husband," his terrified wife lamented.
The ANC Chairman, however, defended himself arguing that he was a licensed gun holder and accused the tenant of being impatient.
"He is my tenant, but I have not personally met him face to face. It's my supervisors who interact with my tenants. There was a lot of damage to the house he occupied. The locks were broken, the wall required an extra coat of paint and plumbing too was needed.
"I was only strict on the time my tenants come back home at night in a bid to tighten security for other tenants.
"The Ksh 9,950 I sent was the correct amount of money after I made my deductions," the politician defended himself.
The tenant's lawyers, however, urged him to refund the Ksh 70,000 minus Ksh 15,000 for repairs as the ANC Chairman argued that he was ready to argue his case in court if they wanted to proceed with a suit.
