Tony Waswa, brother to Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula, was laid to rest on Wednesday, May 20, at his Kabuchai family homestead in Bungoma County.
There was a heavy presence of county health workers donned hazmat suits and backpack sprayers, which they used to sanitise the casket of the departed.
Waswa's coffin was also wrapped in a sheet of translucent polythene, a procedure that is recommended when burying an individual who is suspected to have died from a contagious virus.

Bungoma Women Rep Catherine Nanjala Wambilianga and Sirisia Member of Parliament John Waluke were some of the leaders pictured at the unorthodox send-off of the late Waswa.
Plastic seats were spread out across the homestead to ensure adherence to social distancing with every attendee being screened for Covid-19 at the entrance to the homestead.
Priests at the event donned purple and white cassocks as well as face masks, as they said the final prayers before Waswa's body was finally lowered to his final resting place.
According to a statement seen by Kenyans.co.ke on Friday, May 15, Tony Waswa Wetangula, who was an aide to MP Wanyonyi, succumbed after a long illness at Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi.
Wetangula's political party Ford Kenya through its social media platforms announced to the public that Waswa died on Thursday, May 14.
"Our party leader's brother Tony Waswa Wetang’ula passed on last night at Aga Khan Hospital, Nairobi. Tony was an aide to Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi. May his soul rest in peace,” the message reads in part.
The late Waswa was also brother to Westlands MP, Tim Wanyonyi.
