The autopsy of Catherine Nyambura, the wife to Konyu Ward Representative Eric Mwangi's autopsy was conducted on Wednesday, May 28, at the Karatina Sub-County mortuary.
Nyambura's body was found in Hohwe Dam, Mathira, on Monday morning, May 24, by residents who reported the matter to the police.
Dr. Nyabuto Brenda, a pathologist who represented the family, told the media that Nyambura's body did not have any physical injuries.
She stated that the results were not conclusive, adding that a government pathologist had to be consulted.
“We are taking blood samples, tissue and stomach contents to the government laboratory for analysis to answer the cause of death,” Dr Brenda
Further, the examination revealed that her head, lungs and stomach had a lot of fluid.
Detectives from the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Wednesday, May 27, had questioned Mwangi over the mysterious death.
The sleuths were looking to piece together events that could have led to the untimely death of the deceased.
Several leaders including Deputy President William Ruto sent out their condolence messages to Nyambura's family.
"My heartfelt condolences to Hon. Eric Mwangi, MCA Konyu Ward in Nyeri County, following the death of your wife, Catherine Nyambura.
"May God give you strength as you mourn the mother of your two young boys. Rest In Peace, Catherine," DP Ruto stated in a tweet.
"I send my heartfelt condolences to Mheshimiwa MCA Konyu on the sad demise of Catherine Nyambura, his loving wife and doting mother of their two sons. The pain of losing a spouse is a huge burden to bear but with God's ever-present help, Mheshimiwa will overcome this tragedy. May her soul rest in eternal peace. Job 14:1-2."
