The drama in the Jubilee Party continues to unfold as internal wrangles continue to play out in the public eye.
On May 28, Kenyans.co.ke learned of a plan to eject Jubilee Deputy, Secretary-General Caleb Kositany from his position.
Kositany told this writer that he had been informed by digital strategist Dennis Itumbi that the party’s management was plotting to forge his signature on a resignation letter that was intended to be from the deputy SG.
“Jubilee is preparing to unleash a forged resignation letter by Deputy Secretary-General Caleb Kositany.
“Kositany was not in any Jubilee meeting yesterday. The same people faking newspaper headlines, are now faking party minutes and now forging letters of resignation,” Itumbi alerted.
“Let us wait and see whether they will do it now that they have been discovered,” the Soi MP stated.
He also spoke on the upcoming Jubilee Party elections, noting that he would vie to replace Raphael Tuju who was appointed as the interim Secretary-General by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Itumbi also hit at Jubilee Vice Chair David Murathe over his fake resignation in January 2019.
At the time he had just become a fierce critic of Deputy President William Ruto and their differences had pushed him to announce his resignation.
"I now find that it is no longer tenable to stay on as the party vice-chairman, given that I will have to sit in the same National Executive Council with a man I am taking to court to block from running for president," he told journalists at his Garden Estate home in Nairobi.
However, as it turned out later, Murathe still holds his position in the party.
“Yes, I was in the room when you signed your undated resignation letter. That is how you handle shaky, unreliable and unpredictable characters like you,” Itumbi told Murathe on.
In response, Murathe explained that on their appointment, all interim officials signed undated resignation letters.
“Dennis please stop misleading Kenyans. You are well aware that all interim officials signed undated resignation letters to be released at the pleasure of the appointing authority. He doesn’t have to resign, he will be removed,” the Jubilee vice chair explained.
