President Uhuru Kenyatta on Saturday, June 6, announced that the dusk-to-dawn curfew has been extended for another 30 days during his nationwide address at Statehouse.
However, the curfew would begin at 9 pm and end at 4 am.
"The commencement time for the same shall be varied from 7 pm to 9 pm with the end time for the same being varied from 5 am to 4 am. Therefore, effective 7th June 2020, the nationwide dusk-to-dawn curfew will run from 9 pm to 4 am," he announced.
"This variation should enable Kenyans to have a full workday schedule," Uhuru added.
At the same time, the president announced that the cessation of movement in and out of the Nairobi Metropolitan area, Mombasa and Mandera would be extended for a further 30 days.
He added that the cessation of movement in and out of Eastleigh, Nairobi, and Old Town, Mombasa, would come to an end.
"I direct that the cessation of movement in Eastleigh and Old Town Mombasa shall lapse at 4 am on June 7," he added.
All forms of gatherings had been banned for another 30 days.
"The ban on all forms of gatherings, including but not limited to political gatherings, social gatherings, including bars be and is hereby extended for a further 30 days," he declared.
In addition, the president extended the ban of international travel and tasked the Ministry of Transport to guide on the resumption of travel.
"In the meantime, the Ministry of Transport is directed within seven days from the date hereof, to engage all key Stakeholders and develop protocols to guide resumption of local air travel," Uhuru stated.
