UPDATE June 10, 10.00 am: A 6-year-old child who could not be accounted for after the apartment sunk was found dead.
Kericho County Police Commander Silas Gichunge told the media that the body was discovered by the rescue team last night.
The child was trapped as other tenants tried to escape when the building started sinking into the ground.
An apartment building which is 4 floors high in Kericho County collapsed on the night of Tuesday, June 9.

Videos reaching our newsdesk showed that rescue teams were already at the scene.
According to eyewitnesses, three storeys sunk and only the upper storey remained intact.
As the building started sinking into the ground, many of the residents fled.
A tractor was used to move the rubble and access the tenants who were trapped inside.
Kericho Red Cross official Sofia Tuwei told the media that the building came down at 7.30 pm.
The apartment houses about 70 residential units and 100 residents.
A heavy downpour in Kericho Town hampered rescue efforts but responders pushed through.
