The fake Deputy President William Ruto donations in Kikuyu, Kiambu County may have hit a snag, judging from developments and reactions by police bosses and administrators in the office of area Governor James Nyoro.

Kiambu County Commissioner Wilson Wanyanga detailed that no arrests had been made in the case where residents were hospitalised after consuming the foods donated.

In a report by the Daily Nation on Wednesday, June 10, Wanyanga explained that the matter had been overtaken by events.

Kikuyu Divisional Criminal Investigations Officer Jeremiah Kinga Ikao declined to comment on the issue, adding that it was being handled by the Directorate of Criminal Investigation headquarters along Kiambu Road, Nairobi.

Kiambu Governor James Nyoro, on Monday, May 25 urged the police to hasten investigations while disclosing that 12 residents were rushed to hospital over the matter.

The governor also detailed that lab test results would be made available. However, his administration has since gone silent with Health CEC Joseph Murega declining to comment on the matter.

Kiambu County Director of Public Health, Hellen Kimani also played cagey with details of the case.

"I cannot comment on the matter," she responded.

Kikuyu MP, Kimani Ichungwa, had urged the DCI to make arrests after CCTV footage and photos of a vehicle reportedly used to distribute the fake food donations emerged.

"We call upon the DCI to get the owners of this car. We have CCTV coverage along its entire route. With the Security CCTV Surveillance along the entire route used by these criminals, DCI and the Inspector General of police Hillary Mutyambai should apprehend them as soon as possible," Ichungwa posted on his social media pages.

The fake donations were made a few days after DP Ruto toured the constituency and issued food donations. Through his communications secretary David Mugonyi on Monday, May 26, DP Ruto distanced himself from the donations bearing the name of his foundation.
