Three police officers were arrested in a bribery incident after Kiambu County Commander Ali Nuno laid a trap to catch them following accusations of rampant corruption.

The rogue officers were arrested on Tuesday night, June 9, after the commander led a brigade which included anti-corruption officers to track down the police officers.

The traps were laid at three roadblocks in Limuru and Juja, arresting the officers who accepted Ksh 500 bribes from a team sent by the commander.

At Mutarakwa in Limuru Sub-county, one police officer and Assistant Chief Everson Kungu (Karanje Sub-location) were apprehended while receiving the bribe.

The duo was withdrawn from the roadblock and will be paraded before the County Commissioner and the County Commander on Thursday, June 11 to face a disciplinary committee.

The other two were arrested at Kofinaf roadblock in Mugutha Police Post in Juja. The duo was summoned to the county headquarters for necessary administrative action.

Ali Nuno also constituted a subordinate disciplinary committee to listen to the bribery cases.

The County Commander was posted to Kiambu from Nyeri County in April 2019, taking over from Adiel Nyange. At one time, he was also in charge of Kayole Police Division in 2015, where he fought the dreaded Gaza gang and the outlawed Mungiki sect.

"I normally use an open-door policy. Members of the general public and any officer are free to come to my office to offer any critical information that will help us ensure Kiambu is safe," Nuno state during the handover ceremony.
