Luanda MP Chris Omulele lost his mother on Friday, June 12, 2020.
An announcement was made by Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya through his verified Facebook page.
He mourned the MP’s mother, adding that she died during treatment at a hospital in Nairobi.
“My heartfelt condolences to Luanda MP Hon Chris Omulele and his family for the death of his mother, Mama Sophia Monyo who died today while receiving treatment in Nairobi.
“The cruel hand of death has robbed the society a dedicated mother who served as a councillor and later turned to be a devoted Reverend with the Church of God,” he posted.
Vihiga County Woman Rep Beatrice Adagala also condoled with the MP’s family.
“My thoughts and prayers to the family and May the Almighty God comfort you during this trying moment,” she stated.
“We pray to God to give you and family strength and fortitude to overcome the pain,” ODM Party mourned.
Mama Sophia Monyo had previously served the area residents as a councillor in the now-defunct local government.
The MP has been distributing maize flour across the constituency to the elderly, widowed among other people.
A total of about 10,000 people have benefited from the distribution of maize flour where each person gets 2 packets of 2kg maize flour.
Omulele has also been donating face masks and hand sanitizers to the boda boda industry, matatu sector, and traders at market centres to avoid the spread of Coronavirus.
