Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua made changes to his Cabinet on Friday, July 17, 2020.
In a document seen by Kenyans.co.ke, the governor suspended County Administration and Decentralised Units CEC Titus Kavila for two months.
Economic Planning and External Resources Mobilization Chief Officer Romana Mwende was served with a warning letter.
Kavila’s suspension came just four months after he had been served with a warning letter in March, 2020.
At the time, Machakos read the riot act to his ministers, accusing them of being lazy and selfish.
“Government decisions and executive directives must be obeyed and carried out to the letter. Altering them to fit one’s personal agenda or self-serving interpretation will not be tolerated,” Mutua stated in March.
The governor has nominated James Musango Kathili for vetting by the Machakos County Assembly to the position of county attorney after President Uhuru Kenyatta signed the County Attorneys Bill of 2018 on July 9, 2020.
Trade Industrialization and Innovation CEC Francis Mwaka was transferred to Tourism, Youth, Sports and Culture.
Ruth Nduku was moved from the Tourism docket to the Education, Skills Training and Social Welfare.
Lazarus Kivuva was transferred from the Education docket to replace Mwaka in the Trade and Industrialization docket.
He was also appointed to replace Kavila who was suspended.
Roads, Transport and Public Works CEC Morris Omuyoma was put in charge of the Water, Irrigation, Environment and Natural Resources while Naomi Mutie replaced him at the Roads docket.
