Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Ashford Ofua a police from Parklands Police Station based in Westgate Shopping Mall detailed the events leading to the accident.
"There was a middle aged man driving a white Toyota Auris who drove over the pavement on the parking lot and hit a nearby tree before landing upside down.
"When we responded to the accident we found the man was so drunk then we called for the accident standby from Parklands Police Station who towed the car," he explained.
Kenyans took to Twitter to express their reactions to the bizarre incident with many observing that the car was almost perfectly parked, but upside down.
"Someone has finally managed to do the impossible at Westgate [Mall] parking lot. Parking it upside-down. Driver was unhurt," read one of the tweets.
Other social media users called upon the popular shopping mall to release the CCTV footage of the incident with the area having a number of surveillance cameras.
Some speculated that the driver was trying to drift in the parking lot before hitting a pavement which led the car to summersault.
"I guess he was trying to drift...There was an Arab with a BMW machine apo shell Lavington mall. He tried to do the same stunts and he almost crashed," read another tweet.
The driver's speed was also put into question as he had to be on a high speed in order for the car to flip which is against speed limits in a parking lot.
