Tony Gachoka's show on KTN News, Point Blank, has been cancelled.

In a statement on Tuesday, July 28, the media personality revealed that the popular late night talk show will not be returning on TV even after the Covid-19 pandemic subsides.

Gachoka resorted to setting the record straight after numerous questions on whether the show would be returning after similar broadcasts resumed studio interviews.

"People keep asking me what happened to Point Blank. For the avoidance of doubt nothing. Gideon (Moi) is my brother but I won't be back," stated the oustpoken host.

KTN News, which is part of the larger Standard Media Group umbrella, is associated with Baringo Senator Gideon Moi's family.

The show was known for interviews with influential politicians among them former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, his wife Ida Odinga and National Assembly Minority Whip Junet Mohammed.

Politicians allied to Deputy President William Ruto had, however, lamented that Gachoka style of interviewing was biased against them and some went as far as to claim that his choice of guests was skewed.

"Please, now watch TV without me, Tanga Tanga shows starring Moses Kuria to William Ruto are many," stated Gachoka as he bid TV goodye.

The show, which shared a similar time slot as JKLive Show, was suspended in April as Covid-19 cases surged in the country.

Gachoka, at the time, explained that his decision to suspend the show was necessitated by the virus as he also urged Kenyans to keep the social distancing directive as issued by the Ministry of Health.

“Covid19 has affected how we interact, communicate and congregate. It has changed how we decimate news and record interactive shows.

"I have decided to suspend Point Blank with immediate effect until we can see the better end. Let's follow government advice!” he stated at the time.

Gachoka's joins numerous other shows including NTV's AM Live and other dramas across various channels whose future remains bleak after productions were suspended.

Point Blank was introduced by KTN in February 2019 and quickly captured the attention of many as it shone a light on key figures involved in political intrigues that often dominate headlines in the country.

Gachoka regularly took on the deputy president on social media, accusing Ruto of orchestrating grand corruption schemes and vowing that he would not ascend to the highest office in the land.
