Step by Step Process on Certifying Your Academic Documents

While seeking a job, it is important to have certified academic documents as some employers may require you to produce them before you are hired.

The Certification process is done by the Kenya Nation Examination Council (KNEC).

On August 5, 2020, Dr. Mary Gaturu, the director, quality assurance and standards at the Ministry of Education laid out procedures needed for the certification of documents.

Below is the step by step procedure on how to go about it.

Requirements of KCPE, KCSE exam certification in Kenya

1.) Original National Identification card or passport must be produced.

2.) School leaving certificate.

3.) 2018 KCSE candidates must produce certificates not result slips.

4.) Academic certificates, which must be photocopied on both sides.

5.) For polytechnics and technical institutions, certificates must be represented with the leaving certificates and diploma transcripts.

6.) University degree certificates must be presented with the relevant transcripts, except in local universities before 1984.

7.) For those abroad, evidence of their exit from Kenya through photocopies of their passports showing departure and entry into other countries must be attached.

8.) All cases of certification must be presented in person and if on behalf of someone, proof of authority by the owner must be presented by the person who must have his or her original identity card.

9.) All documents of underage children should be presented by the parent with proof of birth certificate.

Once you have acquired the relevant documents, you should follow the procedure below;

1.) All the original documents and copies should be sealed and dropped off at room 607 every day before 12:30 pm.

2.) The sealed envelope should be addressed to the Director, Quality Assurance and Standards.

3.) The name and contact of the owner should be indicated at the back of the envelope.

4.) The documents shall be collected the following day from 2 pm to 4 pm during working days from room 607.

Additionally, Gaturu indicated that certification of documents was done free of charge.
