Former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama and Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka engaged in a heated war of words at the burial of Samuel Mutuku Mulu in Muthetheni, Mwala sub-county over the weekend.

The late Mutuku is the first born son of former politician Joseph Mulu Mutisya.

Being the first time the two leaders were sharing a podium since their bitter fallout, fireworks were expected and the two did their best to play out the prediction.

It was Muthama who took to the stage first and he immediately brought up his new ally Deputy President William Ruto, urging Kalonzo to join DP Ruto's new political outfit.

"Ruto told me that due to the faith entrusted to him by Kenyans, he had decided to offer himself as a sacrifice, ready to be abused as long as in the end, Kenyans would be saved from the hands of a few," he stated.

When it was time for Kalonzo to address the crowd, he quickly dismissed Muthama's invite and accused him of betraying him and orchestrating his recent loss in the polls.

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has told Deputy President William Ruto to be ready to battle it out with him in 2022.

"Twice. You took me to Raila twice and the results are clear for all to see. This time I have decided I do not need anyone to negotiate on my behalf. I will not be sold like a cow in the market," he stated.

He went on to ask Muthama to go back to his new ally and inform him that the Wiper Party leader was ready to face him in the ballot come 2022.

In his effort to distance himself from DP Ruto, Kalonzo alluded that Muthama's new political ally was part of a corrupt regime, however, he cut himself short mid-speech.

"What I wonder, if you truly believe in the fight against corruption how can you associate with anybody. I'm not really referring to anybody," he remarked.

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, who was also present at the funeral, had to take up the role of the peace maker as the situation threatened to spiral out of control.

"You should come together and we will support you. A Kamba will never be president if we keep on fighting among ourselves," he urged.

Muthama formally announced his exit from the Wiper party on June 25.

The vocal politician declared that his support in the 2022 presidential race had shifted from Kalonzo DP Ruto.

"What business do I still have in wiper? I have no business to be in Wiper. I will ensure William Ruto becomes the 5th president of Kenya. And for the record, I am not being expelled from Wiper, I vomited wiper in 2017, excuse me," his speech read in part.

The two had not met face to face since then until their latest public spat.
