Former KTN News anchor Louis Otieno has revealed that he is set to revive his media career with a brand new show.
Addressing his fans through a video that surfaced online on Tuesday, September 29, the former TV icon revealed that he was set to return with a new show dubbed 'The Second Act.'
This is after Otieno successfully battled a long illness that left him with hearing impairment and only dependent on lip reading.
"For those who I am familiar to, I have missed you. I hope to see you soon. I plan to be back with a programme called, The Second Act.
"This has taken a lot of work. It is happening because certain people have put together time, money and efforts and want to see me back," he explained.
He further revealed that his return was driven by the difficult time the country was facing due to the Covid-19 pandemic and was looking to engage decision-makers.
He says that the show was put together by some of former Nation Media Group staffers.
In the clip, Otieno also thanked Kenyans who helped him raise the Ksh4 million he was seeking for treatment of his condition.
"I reached out to the country and you came out. There are those who came out big and I am thankful to them," he added.
He revealed that the Cochlear Group of Kenya (COGK) hearing aids in his ears that have allowed him to regain his hearing.
Otieno's media career screeched to a halt in 2012 after his name was dragged into Karen Chepchumba's murder investigation.
He would later develop Acute Pancreatitis which impaired his hearing and his journey for treatment started with an appeal for Kenyans to help him raise the fee.
In 2018, Prof Macharia Muthure, a consultant Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) surgeon, offered to help him with treatment which was a success.
In his heyday, Otieno was one of the most popular news anchors in the country having woked for who worked for nearly every major TV station in Kenya; KBC, KTN, K24 and Citizen TV
