A number of estates in Nairobi have been affected by power outages after several supply lines were tripped.
Most of the affected areas reported a blackout on the evening of Wednesday, September 30, with the first power interruption affecting Imara Daima, Villa Franca Estate, Mukuru, Goodlife Apartments, St. Bakita, AA of Kenya Reinforcement, and environs.
Speaking to a Kenyans.co.ke, a Kenya Power representative revealed that the supply lines had tripped, but technicians were working to restore power in the areas still affected by the blackout.
"The power supply lines are off in some of the areas, we are working on the issue. We cannot really know what has made the line to trip.
"When a line trips they have to move from one area to another to find out what made the line trip, because it is the main lines that are off in some areas," she explained.
The Huruma supply line affected, Huruma, Juja Road, Moi base, Mathare, Kamunde Road, Kariobangi, Korogocho, Kariobangi South and Kiamaiko.
Dandora, Buruburu phase one and five, Umoja 3, Mesora Center, Prudential Estate and environs were also affected by the Huruma supply line.
The Kikuyu town supply line affected, Kidfarmaco, Kikuyu Estate, Muthiga, Thogoto, Gikambura Road, Magana Farm, Green Garden School, Alliance Girls High School, and environs.
The Uthiru-Kikuyu supply line affected Kinoo, Kabete vet, Muthure, Gitaru, Gaithumbi, Kanyariri, Uthiru, Kikuyu, Gaithumbi, Rungiri, Muthiga and environs.
The Kanyariri-Kabete supply line affected Kanyariri, Kabete, Ndumbuini, Uthiru, Mukiri Road, Thindigwa and its environs.
This came after parts of the city were pounded by rainfall in mid-afternoon hours.
