The Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (NCWSC) on Friday, October 9, announced that some Nairobi estates would experience a water shortage for two days.

In a statement, NCWSC announced that it would shut down water supply along Mombasa road due to the ongoing construction near Bellevue to Southern Bypass.

The water shortage would start from 6am on Saturday, October 10 to Sunday, October 11.

Some of the Nairobi estates that will be affected will include; South B and South C estates including Mater Hospital, estates along Jogoo Road including Makadara and Hamza and the whole of Industrial area.

Other estates include; those along Mombasa Road from City Stadium including Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), Athi River Export Processing (EPZ), Coca cola, Mukuru, Imara Daima, North Airport Road and Embakasi.

"We appeal for your (public's) indulgence as we work towards restoring the supply. We further urge the public to use the available water sparingly," reads the statement.

"Any inconvenience caused is highly regretted," Nairobi Water stated.

Many Kenyans prepare for water supply interruptions by storing sealed containers of water for drinking and domestic use.

It is also important to ensure that all taps and faucets are closed, as supply resumption could lead to flooding in the house.

Once the water supply resumes, one is advised to allow a cold water tap to run for at least five minutes to ensure the water runs clear before any other water-using device is operated.
