SportPesa Makes Comeback in Kenya

Sports betting website SportPesa on Friday, October 30, disclosed that it had resumed its operations in Kenya. 

Speaking exclusively to Kenyans.co.ke, a highly-placed source at the company confirmed that they were coming in as a new bookmaker, Milestone Games Ltd.

"Milestone has acquired the rights to use the brand name SportPesa in Kenya." the source revealed.

In a statement, the company's CEO Ronald Karauri affirmed that they had gotten a new Betting Control and Licensing Board (BCLB) license.

"SportPesa is back! I’m happy to announce that the SportPesa brand is back under a new BCLB license holder.https://ke.SportPesa.com  

"As market leaders, SportPesa will focus on upholding the highest standards of service and responsible gaming. We look forward to working closely with BCLB and all other stakeholders," he stated.

He added that the company was excited to explore a wide range of partnerships in Kenya over the coming weeks and months, which would prioritise the development of sports in communities across the country.

A spot check disclosed that the website was already up and running.

The announcement excited Kenyans who engage with the platform ready to pick up from where they left off.

"Ndugu... Karibuni tena. I am happy to hear the great news. Get back to dominating the industry," one user Kigen Koech stated.

"We know where the mega jackpot was and we remember the midweek jackpot also let's start from there," another user Oyugi Oyugi added.

"I have never heard such good news in a very long time," Prince Ted noted.

Others noted that their previous balances were still intact from the previous bets as SportPesa confirmed that users could use their old login details.

SportPesa had invested in the development of the local sports leagues and tournaments in Kenya as it had signed agreements to build local and international partnerships in soccer (football), rugby, boxing, motorsport, athletics, golf and kabaddi.
