A senior police boss in Nairobi was found dead on Thursday, December 3, 2020, at his home in Huruma Estate.

According to his colleagues, Huruma Police Station Commander (OCS) Simon Ndeti had been complaining about his health the previous day.

While the cause of death was not immediately established, officials from the Ministry of Health arrived at his house to collect samples for Covid-19 testing

Ndeti is said to have been working throughout the night and at 2am, he went to his house which is a stone throw away from the station.

Many will remember the police boss as the former Karatina Police Commander where he served for many years before his transfer to Nairobi.

“Today, we have lost OCS Huruma Nairobi Simon Ndeti. Previously, he was OCS Karatina. He has been feeling unwell and today morning found dead in his house. May his soul RIP,” mourned one of his colleagues.

“Sad news this morning, Rest in peace my neighbour was living with him in the same flat,” stated one of his neighbours George Matheri.

During his service in Nyeri County, Ndeti was grilled over an incident where a police officer was alleged to have stolen an impounded vehicle.

The suspect who was on disciplinary leave is said to have stolen the vehicle alongside other accomplices.

Ndeti was grilled over the circumstances which led to the deployment of an officer who was already on disciplinary leave.

The duty roster at the police station showed that the suspect was on duty on the night the offense was committed.

“Two separate subordinate disciplinary committees were instituted to inquire the offense in respect to Simon Ndeti (OCS Karatina) and Geoffrey Gitonga (S.O. Traffic) for deploying a police officer on disciplinary leave,” the police report further stated
