Award-winning Kenyan gospel singer Joyce Omondi on Sunday, December 6, revealed that her husband Waihiga Mwaura wrote part of her song Spirit vs Soul.

The singer revealed the Citizen TV news anchor came up with the title of the song and scripted the spoken word that introduces the song.

"I need to give Waihiga credits for coming up with the name Spirit vs Soul and he is the one who wrote the first piece which is like a spoken word piece.

"I gave him the credits on the album, his name is actually on the album," explained the Switch TV host.

Omondi was speaking as she performed her new song Naamini on Citizen TV's Bambika Show that was released on Thursday, December 3.

The gospel artiste, however, noted that she writes all her songs save for tracks where she has collaborated with other artists.

Naamini is the first song, Omondi has done that is not part of an album after releasing Conqueror and Spirit vs Soul albums.

Omondi revealed most of her songs draw inspirations from the scriptures and also opened up on how she came up with the Naamini track.

"This year I've been in a process of being really honest with God in my conversations and speaking out what I feel, that's how my songs have come about.

"If you listen to my music they have been consistently based on scripture, when I'm studying and doing my devotions I get the moment where I remind myself of his word," she added.

The official ambassador of Uhai Haircare used worked at Citizen before taking a six-year break from TV to later join Switch TV.

Omondi who used to host the Rauka gospel show on Citizen TV tied the knot with Waihiga back in December 2015
