6 Stoned to Death in Nairobi

Angry residents of Riruta area in Nairobi, viciously hurled stones at six suspected thugs on Friday morning killing them on the spot.

The suspects, believed to be bodaboda operators, had broken into a local shop when an alarm was raised prompting locals to pursue them with raining stones.

According to the police, the gang consisted of eight members and was cornered in an attempted robbery at 5.30am.

"The residents chased and stoned to death five of them. Police had killed one criminal and it is unfortunate the public killed the other five," informed Nairobi police boss Japheth Koome.

Police, however, condemned the public for taking matters into their hands and asked them to hand criminals to law enforcers.

This comes barely a week after police shot dead five armed suspects along Thika road following a botched robbery in Hurligham, Nairobi.
