UPDATE Wednesday, January 13: The form three student accused of stabbing two teachers in Kisii was arraigned in court and charged with attempted murder.

The 17-year-old student was released on Ksh50,000 cash bail or Ksh100,000 bond.

The student allegedly stabbed two teachers after he was summoned to the staff room for turning up late for morning preps.


A form three student in Kisii county on Tuesday, January 12 was reported to have stabbed two teachers at a school in Kisii raising concerns over growing incidents of violent crime by young Kenyans.

According to reports, the student was summoned to the school's staff room in the morning after he reported to class late.

The media has been barred from accessing the school premises following an order from the Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha.

Senior police and education officers have reported to the school after the incident with investigations launched to get to the bottom of the matter.

It is reported that the student stabbed one of the teachers who were in the staff room with the second tutor being knifed after attempting to rescue his colleague

Following the incident, the teachers were rushed to Ram Hospital in Kisii town with one of the teachers said to be in stable condition.

The other teacher has been checked into the hospital's theatre with severe stab wounds from the morning incident.

One teacher sustained serious injuries on the head while his colleague who attempted to rescue him had cuts on his wrist. 

The student went initiated the attack after he was ordered to kneel down and explain why he has turned up late for morning preps.

The university student was arrested despite switching off his phone after police managed to track down his last signal at his hideout in Lower Kabete, Kiambu County.

A lady who was later confirmed to be his girlfriend, who sells goods at Biafra in Thika, was also arrested.
