Uhuru Postpones Sagana Meeting

President Uhuru Kenyatta has postponed a meeting with women leaders and clergy that was to be held at the Sagana State lodge today, Monday 1.   

"Consultative meetings between His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta, the Clergy and Women Leaders from Central Kenya scheduled for today, Monday 1st February 2021 at Sagana State Lodge have been postponed to next week due to unavoidable circumstances.  

"The new date and venue of the rescheduled meetings will be communicated in due course," said Kanze Dena, Statehouse spokesperson.  

The head of state has for the past few days held consultative meetings with leaders from the Mt Kenya region and other diaspora counties at the state residence. 

The reason for postponing the meeting was yet to be communicated by the government.

The president was in Sagana for four days meeting with the Mt Kenya leaders. The meeting today was scheduled with the clergy and women leaders from the president's backyard.  

When the president met the 5000 delegates from Mt Kenya region, he reiterated that he was only indebted to the millions of Kenyans

“Some people keep saying I made a promise to them. No, I only have a promise and covenant with the people of Kenya,” he said. 

In a consultative meeting with the MCAs, the president agreed to their demand of 2M car grants which will only be effective after the next general election.  

During his visit in Sagana, the Head of State is expected to complete launching and inspecting some of his projects.
