More Covid-19 Cases Including a One Month Old Baby

195 people have tested positive for Covid-19 from a sample size of 5,859 tested in the last 24 hours. This takes the total confirmed positive cases to 101,534.

In a statement on Friday, February 5, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe noted that 1,206,722,161 samples have been tested for the virus across the country. From the positive cases, 174 are Kenyans while 21 are foreign nationals.

116 are males while 79 are females. The youngest is a one-month-old infant while the oldest is 90 years old.

The Ministry of Health announced that 125 patients have been discharged from the hospital.

80 recoveries are from various health facilities across the country while 45 are from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program. The total recoveries now stand at 84,268.

3 patients have succumbed to Covid-19 in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative fatalities in the country at 1,776.

Currently, 401 patients are admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 1,419 are on Home Based Isolation and Care.

27 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 16 of whom are on ventilatory support and 11 on supplemental oxygen. 

Another 17 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen with 12 of them in the general wards across the country. 5 patients are in the High Dependency Unit.

In terms of county distribution; In terms of Sub County distribution ; the 140 cases in Nairobi are

from Starehe ( 29 ), Lang'ata ( 19 ), Dagoretti North ( 16 ) , Kibra and Westlands ( 10 ) cases each , Kamukunji ( 8 ) , Roysambu ( 7 ) , Mathare ( 6 ) , Embakasi Central , Embakasi West , Kasarani and Makadara ( 5 )cases each , Ruaraka ( 4 ) , Dagoretti South , Embakasi North and Embakasi South ( 3 ) cases each , Embakasi East ( 2 ) .

In Kiambu the 8 cases are from Ruiru ( 4 ) , Juja , Kabete , Kiambu Town and Thika ( 1 ) case each . In Turkana all the 6 cases are from Turkana West . In Machakos the 6 cases are from Athi River ( 3 )Machakos Town ( 2 ) and Kangundo ( 1 ) .

In Mombasa the 5 cases are from Changamwe , Jomvu , Kisauni , Likoni and Mvita ( 1 ) case each . In Embu all the 5 cases are from Manyatta . In Kisumu the 5 cases are from Nyando ( 3 ) and Kisumu West( 2 ) . In Nakuru the 3 cases are from Naivasha , Nakuru North and Nakuru West ( 1 ) case each . In Kajiado the 3 cases are from Kajjado Central , Kajiado East and Kajiado North ( 1 ) case each .

In Garissa all the 3 cases are from Garissa Town . In Nyeri the 3 cases are from Tetu ( 2 ) and Mathira East ( 1 ) . In Laikipia the 2 cases are all from Laikipia East and in Kilifi the 2 cases are all from (2)Kilifi North . The case in Makueni is from Makueni Town , the case in Kisii is from Kitutu Chache South , the case in Siaya is from Alego Usonga and the case in Trans Nzoia is from Kiminini .
