A woman from Chogoria Town, Tharaka Nithi County, has been arrested after she allegedly stabbed her boyfriend to death on Saturday, February 6.

Susan Gakii is alleged to have stabbed the boyfriend identified as Martin Kahiga after he reportedly refused to spend the night at her house, claims police are yet to substantiate.

Police stated that Susan drove a kitchen knife into the right side of Kahiga’s chest before attempting to take her own life by stabbing herself in the stomach.

The two were rushed to PCEA Chogoria Hospital where Kahiga was pronounced dead on arrival. Susan is, however, in a stable condition and will face the law once discharged from the hospital.

The police have revealed that upon the two arriving at Gakii’s house, the suspect warned Kahiga against leaving the house leading to a fight. Kihiga is alleged to have defied Gakii's request, and made as if to leave the house.

This allegedly led to a confrontation at which point Gakii is alleged to have picked a kitchen knife and stabbed Kahiga.

Police said they are yet to establish what exactly transpired.

This murder comes days after a man reportedly murdered his ex-girlfriend in Njiru estate by tying her up and setting her on fire. He would later attempt to commit suicide by jumping from a story building while being pursued by the Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

In yet another incident that occurred on January 8, a Nigerian national was arrested on suspicion of killing his girlfriend, a Kenyan who works as a lawyer in Nairobi. Christian Kadima Mwambay was arrested at a lodging facility within Nairobi's central business district.

Kenyans have been advised to seek professional help in relationships to help in decreasing the number of homicides in the country.
