Jubilee Secretary General, Raphael Tuju, has suspended seven Nyandarua MCAs for alleged gross misconduct to pave way for the second impeachment of Speaker Ndegwa Wahome.

The seven include; Peter Gathungu (Leshau Pondo ward) Suleiman Kihika (Kanjuiri ward) and Muchiri Kariuki (Murungari ward) and their nominated counterparts Goergina Wanjiru, Esther Nyambura, Margarate Wanjiru, Esther Nyambura.

The MCAs were suspended in what the party termed as lack of respect and discipline for their offices and stature.

They were also fined Ksh100,000 to be deposited in the party’s account. In addition, they were also barred from attending the House for six months.

The seven MCAs are allied to the Speaker of Nyandarua Ndegwa Wahome, an ally of Deputy President William Ruto, who has now been impeached for a second time.

On Wednesday, the House learnt that the seven had already been suspended after the votes were cast in a motion to impeach the speaker.

The Outcome of the motion was; 26 MCAs were in favour of the motion, 4 opposed the motion while the 7 were rejects.

“The speaker has outrightly shown that he is unable to hold office. That is why we want him to get out of the office so that we can have a competent person. All he keeps asking from the executive is for more money yet he cannot account for the ones he has been allocated,” Said the Majority Leader Edinard King’ori.

In December 2020, the battle reached its peak when the MCAs traded blows during a special sitting meant to communicate the gazette notice on the impeachment against Wahome.

The first attempt to impeach the Senator was last year December but he was reinstated by a Nakuru County earlier this year.

In January, some of the MCAs had moved to Court to impeach Speaker Wahome despite a court ruling that gave the Speaker seven days to respond to the allegations that he was accused of.

Wahome is also in logger heads with Nyandarua Governor, Francis Kimemia, who has previously accused him of arbitrarily shutting County Assembly premises to stonewall the planned impeachment.
