8 Die as Covid-19 Cases Rise

277 individuals have tested positive for Covid-19 from a sample size of 4,599 tested in the last 24 hours.

This takes Kenya's cumulative confirmed positive cases to 105,057.

In a statement on Thursday, February 25, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe disclosed that the total tests conducted so far are 1,282,799.

From the positive cases recorded in the last 24 hours, 221 are Kenyans while 456 are foreigners. 173 are males while 104 are females.

The youngest is a three-year-old child while the oldest is 89 years.

119 patients have recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours. Total recoveries now stand at 85,497.

Sadly, 8 patients have succumbed to the disease pushing our cumulative fatality to 1,847.

A total of 336 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide while 1,397 patients are on Home Based Isolation and Care . 61 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit ( ICU ) , 25 of whom are on ventilatory support and 27 on supplemental oxygen . 9 patients are on observation .

Another 12 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen all of whom are in general wards. No patient is in a High Dependency Unit (HDU).

Nairobi led with 194 cases followed by Nakuru 18, Kiambu 17, Mombasa 11, Laikipia 8, Kajiado 7, Machakos 6, Uasin Gishu 5, Siaya 2, Makueni 2, Meru 1, Nandi 1, Narok 1, Nyandarua 1, Nyeri 1, Taita Taveta 1 and Kisumu 1.

In terms of Sub County distribution ; the 194 cases in Nairobi are from Westlands (30), Starehe (22), Kibra (21), Dagoretti North (20), Lang'ata (19), Embakasi East (16), Kasarani (10), Roysambu (8), Makadara (7), Embakasi North, Kamukunji, Mathare and Ruaraka (6) cases each, Dagoretti South and Embakasi West (5) cases each,

Embakasi Central (4), Embakasi South (3).

In Nakuru the 18 cases are from Nakuru East (11), Njoro (3), Gilgil, Naivasha, Nakuru West and Rongai (1) case each. In Kiambu the 17 cases are from Ruiru (5), Kiambu Town and Thika (3) cases each, Gatundu South and Kabete (2) cases each, Lari and Limuru (1) case each .

In Mombasa the 11 cases are from Mvita (4), Nyali (3), Jomvu and Kisauni (2) cases each. In Laikipia all the 8 cases are from Laikipia East . In Kajiado the 7 cases are from Kajiado East (5) and Kajiado North (2).

In Machakos all the 6 cases are from Athi River.
