Kazungu and his six siblings are from the Digo tribe and were born in Mombasa before relocating to Nakuru. His siblings are not featured much in the limelight hence little is known about them. In a past interview, he shared how their mother sold illicit brew to provide for the family.

Otoyo pursued acting as a career and started out at Kenya National Theatre as an actor on set book plays.

He later took part in a local show - Papa Shirandula - which aired on Citizen TV. He has also been featured numerous times on Churchill's show as a comedian, using a Luo accent as his signature identity.

He later transitioned to the radio when he joined Radio Maisha. He quit in 2018 and made a comeback two years later joining Milele FM.
