Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura on Thursday, March 11, revealed how he made a local artist's dream come true by linking her up with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Mwaura made revelation after he took to social media to praise Carol Wanjiru - a local gospel artist well known for her song Munduiriri (my defender). The song was released in 2016.
He narrated how that particular song inspired him, and which resulted in the senator reaching out to Wanjiru. The senator told Wanjiru that the song would be a blessing to many more Kenyans if it was translated into Kiswahili.
Amazed by the proposal, Wanjiru and Mwaura embarked on the project and translated the song in order to release the Swahili version.
While keeping tabs with Wanjiru, Mwaura requested a proposal to the artist to meet with Uhuru at State House.
"In 2017, Carol Wanjiru performed the song during the late Gov Nderitu Gachagua's burial in presence of the President but never had a chance to meet him. I later organised for the same and her dream of meeting the President became a reality," he stated.
Wanjiru and her husband got a chance to meet Uhuru. According to the artist, they posed for photos with the President as well as got a chance to sing the acclaimed song with the President.
The senator also detailed the story of Charles Karanja - a youth from Bosnia in Githurai who Mwaura praised for having the ability to imitate over 30 animal sounds.
In a video shared by Mwaura on social media, Karanja showed off his artistic prowess by mimicking various animal sounds.
Karanja revealed that he uses his talent by performing to random people in the streets in order to look for money to help with his school fees.
The news comes as Senator Mwaura, allied to the Deputy President William Ruto, is a fierce critic of the Head of State. In recent political gatherings, the senator has been vocal in his stance on castigating the dynasty rule in which he alleges is imposed by the government.
His remarks later on landed him in trouble with the ruling party which expelled him and five other nominated senators among them Millicent Omanga, Mary Yiane, Waqo Naomi Jilo, Prengei Victor and Iman Falhada Dekow on grounds of disrespecting the President.
The political parties Disputes Tribunal, however, suspended the decision directing that the affected members should get a fair hearing in court.
