The Homicide and Crime Scene Investigations detectives visited a crime scene where National Lands Commission official Jennifer Itumbi Wambua's body was found dumped in Ngong Forest on Saturday, March 13.

Their aim was to re-enact Wambua's last moments to establish what could have happened before her death.

On the scene of crime, the investigators found that Wambua's body was half-naked owing to a description of the herders who saw her first. She was only dressed in a black floral blouse.

Detectives suspected that Wambua could have been raped before she was strangled to her death.

The team also found that the victim had a black piece of cloth tied around her neck which is currently being treated as the murder weapon.

"We saw a woman's body in a thicket. At first, we thought that she was asleep but later realised that she was not moving. She had clutched her hands around her chest and was half naked. It is then that we noticed she was dead and reported the matter to the police station,"  Thomas Inkoi, a herdsman stated.

Residents in the area lamented that it was not the first time a body had been found dumped in the area.

"Generally, the area is safe. However, over the years, we have noticed bodies killed elsewhere being dumped here," Maria Kariuki, a Nyumba Kumi representative stated.

Wambua was one of the witnesses in a case involving the alleged embezzlement of Ksh122 million from the Government Advertising Agency (GAA) implicating top government officials including former PS Sammy Itemere and Lugari MP Ayub Savula.

The detectives are trying to piece together whether her death is in relation to the case or a domestic issue could have led to the incident.

"From the preliminary investigations, the deceased knew that some people were after her. However, she never reported to the police or to any close relative," a detective stated.

The deceased was last seen on Friday leaving her workplace, where she had earlier been dropped by her husband.

CCTV footage taken from Wambua's workplace as well as autopsy which is expected to be conducted today, will help detectives get more information on what could have happened.
