President Uhuru Kenyatta is among African leaders who are attending the late John Pombe Magufuli's state funeral in Tanzania.
Zimbabwe’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his Democratic Republic of Congo counterpart Félix Tshisekedi also arrived in Tanzania for the memorial of President Magufuli who died last week.
Eight other presidents and government top officials from across Africa are expected to attend the ceremony which comes two days after Magufuli's deputy, Vice President Samia Suluhu Hassan was sworn in as the President of Tanzania.
The late president's body arrived in Dodoma, Tanzania capital city and was received by thousands of citizens who broke down in tears.
Government spokesman Hassan Abbas told the journalist that other expected leaders will come from Comoros, Mozambique, Zambia, Namibia and Botswana.
The burial for the late president is scheduled to take place on March 26, 2021 in his native home in Chato District in Geita region.
Magufuli's death was announced by former Tanzanian Vice President Samia Hassan Suluhu (the current president) after weeks of speculation about his whereabouts.
