KBC news anchor, Purity Museo, won the Best TV Personality in Africa award and the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Zikoma Awards which were held in Zambia on Friday, April 9.

Sharing the news on her social media platforms, Museo thanked the hosts, Zikoma Awards and all of Africa for the award.

“We won. Best TV Personality Africa and Lifetime Achievement Award (TV personality). Thank you Kenya, thank you Zambia and thank you Africa,” Museo wrote.

She was competing for the Best TV personality award against Nana Abena, Korkor Addo, Aziza Mona and Elizabeth Mramba.

Nana Abena is a Ghanian TV presenter currently working as a TV presenter with TV3 Ghana. She previously worked as a project coordinator and as an undergraduate teaching assistant.

Aziza Mona and Elizabeth Mramba are both Tanzanian TV and Radio personalities.

Museo shared with her fans that she had flown out to Lusaka on Friday, April 9.

“In Lusaka, Zambia for the Zikomo Awards grand finale happening tonight. Thank you for all those who voted for me,” she wrote.

The awards had other categories including Best Female Artist of the Year in Africa, Best Upcoming Artist in Africa, Best Entrepreneur in Zambia and Best Male Fashion Designer in Africa.

This is the first time the awards have been held and aim at recognizing Africans doing exemplary work in humanitarian, fashion, music, media and fitness fields.

Museo has worked at KBC since 2018 as an anchor and hosts the weekend news.

Other Kenyan journalists to scoop awards in the recent past include Nation Media Group journalists from the TV and print divisions who won multiple awards at the International Sports Press Association (AIPS) awards for Africa on April 1,
