The Kenyan National Examinations Council (KNEC) has announced logistic plans for teachers who have been participating in the KCPE marking process.
The marking exercise is expected to be concluded by Sunday, April 11 with Education CS George Magoha disclosing that exam results would be released within two weeks.
In a circular to all Deputy County Commissioners, KNEC acting CEO Mercy Kerogo directed that government officials liaise with other senior offices to identify and facilitate school vehicles to facilitate the movement of teachers in and out of the restricted zones in the five counties.
"The identified vehicles should be fuelled by sub-county directors of Education using the money for the return of the KCSE scripts that will be reimbursed as soon as possible," she stated in a letter dated April 8.
The vehicles must be in Nairobi by 8 pm on Sunday, April 11, 2021, and park for the night in different educational institutions.
The buses from different regions have been directed to park at various institutions. All vehicles from Nyanza region will park at Mary Hill, Thika, Western and Rift Valley region - Mangu High school, Coast Region - Alliance Girls, Eastern region - Limuru girls, and the Central region - Alliance Boys.
"The movement pass for the vehicle to and from Nairobi will be given by the respective County Commissioners," the KNEC CEO affirmed.
Earlier on, the Education Ministry issued elaborate guidelines to all County Directors of Education on how Form Four students would travel in and out of the locked-down counties after completing their exams.
Schools were directed to organise with transport companies so that students are picked from school in addition to the students wearing school uniforms with introductory letters from the schools.
The Ministry further directed the schools to communicate with parents about all the transport arrangements to facilitate the safety of the students.
Teachers from different schools travelled to Nairobi for the marking of examination from March 28 in what is a highly confidential exercise.
While giving the two-week timeline on April 6, Magoha said that the marking of multiple choice papers was complete with English Composition and Kiswahili Insha papers were still in progress.
