Former Inooro TV news anchor Muthoni Mukiri has explained why she rejected multiple job offers after publicly announcing her resignation from the Royal Media Service-owned station.

Speaking in a recent candid post on her YouTube channel, she said that her personal projects could not allow her to return to the limelight.

“I have received a lot of calls to continue what I was doing in other media houses but I’m not ready yet, I’m still taking some time to myself,” she stated.

“I’m taking some time off to work on very personal projects that I feel I cannot do when I’m in mainstream media because they require a lot of privacy,” she added.

Some of the sensitive projects include mental and emotional health awareness that she highlights on her channel.

The popular anchor also explained that she had gone back to school to study psychology and was also running her businesses.

Muthoni has invested heavily in the cosmetics industry with her hairline business known as Mukiri Hair Hub which retails premium wigs and human hair.

Mukiri is personally vested in the operations of the company and uses her celebrity status to promote it via her social media accounts.

She however said would eventually return to the media industry, once the time is right.

At the height of her career at Inooro TV, Muthoni had become a household name among the station’s vernacular audience due to her eloquence and good command of the Kikuyu language.

When she joined the Royal Media Services-owned station some of her strengths were voice and diction which she had practiced as a voice-over artist and an actor.

Ken wa Kuraya who was her co-host at Inooro TV was also an actor at the Kenya National Theatre where they performed Kikuyu stage plays together.
