COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli on Friday, July 9, surprised a job seeker by paying his entire college school fees.

Lekorei Maiyai had reached out to the COTU secretary general on Twitter in June and asked him for a job opportunity.

The 25-year-old narrated that he had attained a C plain in his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) but could not go to Collage due to lack of school fees.

"Hello sir. I'm Maiyani a Maasai boy from Nanyuki. I'm 25 years and I come from a humble background...I finished my KCSE in 2015 and attained a C plain. Kindly help me get a job opportunity so that I can help my parents," Maiyai pleased.

Following the message, the trade unionist vowed to get back to Maiyani once he was back in the country and he kept true to his word.

Maiyani will now be joining Sensei Institute of Technology for Plant Operator Training aswell as an additional course in driving.

"As promised, I have ensured that Maiyani joins school to secure his future and that of his family. On Monday, he will be starting a new course."

Maiyai could not hide his joy and expressed his gratitude for the kind gesture.

"Thank you so much sir. I'm very happy. Thanks for making a turning point in my life. I wish you success always. God will continue blessing you more. I will never forget this."

Over the years, the unemployment rate in the country has led Kenyans to use extreme measures to get heard by the Kenyan elite, who might be in a position to offer them jobs.

Unfortunately, some miss the opportunity due to their way of asking.

The late entrepreneur Chris Kirubi and Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore once told off job seekers on Twitter for lack of appropriate communication skills and etiquette.
