A 2020 KCPE candidate who scored 401 marks has been forced to repeat class eight due to a lack of funds to join form one.

Diana Nyokabi, who sat her KCPE exams at the Bungoma D.E.B Primary School was to join the Moi Girls High School in Eldoret.

Following her stunning performance, she was selected to benefit from a scholarship program by the Bungoma County.

However, she was mysteriously removed from the list and the family was left wondering how they would raise Ksh53,554 required for Nyokabi to join High School.

Left with no option, Nyokabi decided to repeat class eight.

"I want to be a lawyer in future and I'm appealing to well wishers to make this dream a reality by helping me join form one," Nyokabi told Citizen Digital.

Nyokabi's mother Priscilla Nyanchera stated that she is a vegetable vendor who had worked hard to ensure that her daughter remained in school.

Tobias Khisa, the headteacher for Bungoma D.E.B Primary School stated that he was shocked to receive Nyokabi back to the learning institution.

He, however, stated that he was willing to accept the pupil who is a top performer back in school.

The incident came days after 2020 KCPE top student Faith Mumo stated that well wishers who had promised to pay for her education left her stranded.

She appealed to Kenyans and was lucky after Matungulu MP - Stephen Mutinda - offered to pay her school fees through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

"I want to thank the NG-CDF committee, and particularly the MP, for being kind. I promise to work hard in school and promise everyone that I will make dreams come true for other girls one day as it is my dream," she vowed.
