Angry members of the public on Wednesday, August 4, overturned a police car and set it on fire during a demonstration.
A clip seen by Kenyans.co.ke showed the irate residents overturn the vehicle during a protest at Kianjokoma trading centre, Embu.
The residents were protesting the death of two brothers reportedly at the hands of the police.
The residents also barricaded the Manyatta Police Station and lit bonfires along the road in protest of the tragic incident.
The deceased include Benson Njiru, 22 and Emanuel Mutura, 19, who reportedly died after arrest past curfew hours.
Their bodies were found lying at the Embu General mortuary.
The deceased's uncle Andrew Gichohi claimed that the two were arrested on Sunday and ferried by a police vehicle. He added that the two did not go home on the said day.
Gichohi went to Manyatta Police Station in Kianjokoma on Monday to establish whether there was any report on the two.
On reaching the station, however, the police stated that they did not have their names on the Occurrence Book.
In defence, Embu East sub-county commander Emily Garuiya suspected that the two might have died after jumping from a moving police car.
"Statements have been made and an inquiry has been made to investigate more about the death, awaiting postmortem," he stated.
Cases of mysterious deaths at police stations have been on the rose with over three cases recorded at Rioma Police Station in a span of under one year.
Interior CS Fred Matiang'i personally intervened to resolve the increased cases at the troubled station in Kisii County.
