Officers at Langata Police Station, on Friday, August 6, stated that they had not pressed any charges against Senior Assistant Inspector General of Police King'ori Mwangi who was accused of causing an accident.
Mwangi was accused of knocking down and critically injuring two pedestrians along Langata Road Road before fleeing the accident scene.
The incident was said to have occurred on Thursday, August 5 evening.
His colleagues disclosed that neither the victim nor witnesses filed a formal complaint against Mwangi.
"For now, we know an accident occurred, but the victims have not indicated whether or not they want the case to be taken to court," a traffic officer based at Langata Police Station stated.
"We will follow the case keenly and see how it progresses."
The senior officer attached to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs narrowly survived being lynched by a mob comprising of boda boda riders.
The mob accused him of driving on the wrong side of the road near Sunshine School in Langata. A traffic officer who was on duty rescued him from the angry riders who had cornered and assaulted him.
Mwangi alleged that he was rushing to Karen Hospital to see a patient and had attempted to circumvent the traffic gridlock on Langata Road.
The two pedestrians he allegedly knocked down were rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital. Mwangi checked in at a nearby facility where he was treated and discharged.
He reportedly suffered minor bruises on the head and arms.
