Kenyans taking part in the milk-crate challenge will not be able to post it on popular social network Tiktok. This is after the platform banned its 689 million active monthly users from posting the content coming from the challenge.

The TikTok ban came after doctors and concerned users across the world raised a red flag on how dangerous the challenge was and the risks it posed to participants.

Doctors were concerned that if uncontrolled, the challenge will result to many people suffering severe injuries, some that may cause irreparable damages.

The milk crate challenge had become a sensation in the country with hundreds of Kenyans trying it out with little regard to the physical risk that it posed.

Social media users would later post the outcomes on the platforms in a bid to gain viewership and create engagements.

A section of Kenyans had, however, expressed reservations on the challenge.

The challenge involved stacking milk crates together in the form of a pyramid. For one to succeed in the challenge, they had to walk over the pyramid structure and ensure no fall.

The challenge started in the United States and quickly gained fame across the globe.

Many of the participants did not complete it and always fell midway, some suffering injuries on the neck, ribs and the head.

This led to Tiktok banning its users from publishing the materials from the challenge on its platform.

“TikTok prohibits content that promotes or glorifies dangerous acts, and we remove videos and redirect searches to our Community," said the platform in a statement.

“We encourage everyone to exercise caution in their behaviour whether online or off."

The platform also reconfigured its algorithms to ensure no results are returned from the milk crate challenge searches.
