A woman has been charged by the court for obtaining Ksh200,000 from two students of Kenya Medical Training College(KMTC) in exchange for ensuring they get good grades

Its reported that she presented herself as a government worker at the Ministry of Education.

According to the court report, her intention was to defraud Fatuma Adan Gulia, a former student of KMTC, Ksh200,000 in the pretence of granting her KMTC final exam qualification.

As per the report by the police mention the complainant, Gulia, was a student at KMTC but has since graduated.

“On March 3, 2021, she finished her final qualification exams, and upon the realising of the results on March 29, 2021, she had failed one paper in General Nursing, and she was looking for someone who could remark her exam and that of her cousin who failed too,” the report read.

In search of a solution to their challenge, the suspect, known to Fatuma, told the two to part with Ksh100,00 each and sort their concern.

It is also noted that on April 14, 2021, the impersonator introduced them to her one of her accomplices where the two struck the deal and made payments.

The complainant through mobile cash transfer sent the accused Ksh150,000 and an additional Ksh50,000 was sent to the accomplice.

After three weeks of waiting with no change noticed, the recipients blocked Gulia's number and refused to refund the money.

The accused pleaded not guilty to Nairobi Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi and was released on a Ksh50,000 bond with an alternative cash bail of Ksh30,000

This comes amidst the DCI receiving complaints from teachers who had been defrauded large sums of money in unclear deals.

On July 7, DCI arrested suspects believed to be part of a cartel that cheated unsuspecting teachers' millions of shillings.
