Three Chinese Nationals were on Friday, September 17, accosted by suspected thugs in their Greyland estate residence in Athi River, Machakos County.
Machakos Criminal Investigations officer (CCIO) Charles Mutua disclosed that the unfortunate incident left one dead and two others critically injured.
Jian Yuan succumbed to injuries inflicted on him with a knife at the Shalom Community Hospital, while Jia Yuwei aged 47 and Jia Zheng Ming aged 37 are still fighting for their lives.
The incident is suspected to have taken place between 2 am to 3am.
Addressing the press, Mutua stated that the thugs gained entry into the warehouse by breaking glasses.
"Upon entry there was a scuffle that led to serious injuries to the three Chinese nationals. Police were informed in good time and rushed to the scene. By this time, the thugs had already escaped," Mutua stated.
Mutua, who was accompanied by Athi River deputy county commissioner Charles Wambugu and area sub county police commander Anderson Njagi, disclosed that no suspect had been arrested in connection with the murder.
He, however, noted that police were investigating the matter and were working to bring the perpetrators to book.
"Special teams of homicide and cybercrime units were on the ground to gather information of what could have happened," he concluded.
The incident came just days after Assistant Inspector General King'ori Mwangi's home was raided in Pembe Tatu Estate, Nyeri County.
The armed thugs included; a third-year university student at a local university, a suspected robbery convict, and a boyfriend of Mwangi's house help.
Police believed that the eight hour long raid was a well-orchestrated plot and an inside job.
They made away with items including; a gun cleaning kit, assorted bullets, police berets, 12 Gauge Taurus shotgun, a loaded pistol and shotgun shells
