State broadcaster KBC news anchor, Purity Museo, on Wednesday, September 22, expressed fear after a man unknown to her kept on stalking her on social media.
According to the journalist, the stalker incessantly tagged her on Facebook posts on his wall, adding that she has time and again warned him to stop but he has remained persistent in his erratic behaviour.
Museo described the situation as 'abnormal' noting that she had tried to block the user on several occasions but with no success.
"Fellow Kenyans. I need help to stop this man! He has my photos in his room and when I block him, he creates new accounts and tags me in these posts. I don’t know him. I have warned him severally in vain. I don’t find this normal," she stated.
Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, the news anchor noted that the stalker at first tagged her on photos and videos about her in 2020. She reached out to him and warned that she had not given him consent to either tag her or use her images.
Relentless in his pursuit, the stalker kept sending various messages in her DMs (Direct Messaging) and email.
She detailed that she warned him several times but he did not stop. Efforts to block him were futile as he kept creating other accounts.
"There was a time he created an account that had both our names. When I warned him that I would report him is when he immediately changed the name."
"So yesterday (Tuesday, September 21), he took my photos and tagged my co-anchors and KBC. One of the handles for Radio Taifa tagged me and that is when I realised that this has become too much," she pointed out.
Museo noted that the situation had become dire to the extent that she felt her life may be at risk.
"Personally, I posted it on social media because I feel vulnerable, I feel scared. When someone has my images, I don't know him, I don't know if he follows me. I think this is not normal."
"I just find it so weird, someone has my photos on his wall and I do not know his intentions," she stated.
Museo noted that she would report the matter to the police.
